Private coaching is suitable for complete beginners, people developing their boxing skills, and those who simply want a boxing-based workout. Sessions are tailored to your goals and experience, whether you want to focus on boxing skills, combine skill development with fitness, or primarily train for fitness.
-
No. Complete beginners are welcome. Coaching can start from the fundamentals — including stance, basic punching technique, footwork and movement — and progress at a pace suited to your experience and goals.
-
Yes. Your training can be tailored to what you want from boxing. You can focus primarily on learning and developing boxing skills, combine technical coaching with boxing fitness, or choose a dedicated Boxing Fitness session if your main goal is a structured boxing-based workout.
-
Private coaching can teach you the fundamental skills that form the foundation of boxing — including stance, punching technique, defence, footwork, movement and positioning.
However, learning boxing skills is not the same as being prepared for a fight. Preparing to compete requires experience applying and pressure testing those skills against resisting opponents through appropriate sparring and fight-specific preparation.
If competing becomes your goal, private coaching can help you build a strong technical foundation before progressing into an appropriate boxing gym and competition environment.

Boxing gloves are available to use during your session, so you don’t need to own a pair to get started. If you decide to continue training regularly, I recommend purchasing your own gloves, and I can help you choose a suitable pair.
You will need your own hand wraps. If you’re new to boxing and aren’t sure what to buy, I can advise you before your first session. Wear comfortable training clothes and suitable athletic shoes that allow you to move safely.

Yes. Sessions can be adapted to your experience, fitness level and goals, with an emphasis on learning boxing skills in a controlled and supportive environment.
Maintaining physical activity, balance, coordination and functional movement becomes increasingly important as we get older. Exercise that includes balance and functional training has been shown to help maintain physical function and reduce the risk of falls in older adults.
Boxing provides an engaging way to practise coordinated movement, footwork, changes of direction and focus while learning a genuine sporting skill. Training is progressed at a pace appropriate to the individual.

Please let me know about any injuries, health conditions or other concerns that may affect your training before your first session. All new clients complete a pre-exercise screening questionnaire before commencing training.
Where appropriate, sessions can be adjusted to work within your capabilities. If your screening identifies something that may require medical or allied-health advice before training, I may ask you to obtain appropriate clearance before we proceed.

Yes. As a shift worker myself, I understand that a fixed weekly appointment doesn’t work for everyone. Flexible appointment times are available for shift workers and people with changing schedules. Private boxing coaching is available across morning, daytime and evening appointment times depending on the day. If your availability changes from week to week, get in touch and we can discuss session times that work around your roster
Coaching is based in Croydon Park in Sydney's Inner West, with session availability varying throughout the week.
-
Sessions are booked online based on current availability, with payment made at the time of booking. You don’t need to commit to the same day or time each week — simply choose an available session that suits your schedule.
If you purchase a session package, your remaining sessions can be booked progressively as you train.

I understand that life happens and things come up, particularly for people working changing shifts and rosters. If you need to change your session, please let me know as soon as you can and I’ll do my best to reschedule your booking to another available time.
I aim to be flexible with genuine changes in circumstances. However, repeated late cancellations or missed sessions may result in the session being forfeited. No-shows without notice may also forfeit the session.

Before your first session, you’ll complete a short pre-exercise screening form, waiver and a few questions about your boxing experience and what you want from your training.
We’ll also have a brief conversation about your goals, any relevant injuries or health considerations, and whether you’re primarily interested in boxing skills, a combination of skills and fitness, or boxing fitness. This helps me tailor your first session to you.
-
Yes. Private Boxing for Two sessions are available if you’d prefer to train with a friend, partner or family member.
